a sneak peek at our social life!
🍪 We had some special visitors on Saturday! 🍪
The Girl Scouts stopped by to sell cookies, and our residents were happy to stock up on their favorites. Along with lots of cookie sales, the visit sparked wonderful conversations as residents shared memories of their own Girl Scout days and troop adventures. What a sweet afternoon of cookies, stories, and connections across generations! 💚

Did you know that ANY bird who hunts is considered a bird of prey? This means smaller birds like robins and hummingbirds are technically birds of prey just like the larger hawks, falcons, eagles, etc! 🪶
Our friend Rob from Open Door Bird Sanctuary stopped by with three feathery friends last week and taught us lots of interesting facts including:
🦅 The word ‘raptor’ means ‘one who grasps’, so birds like owls, vultures, hawks, and falcons use their hooked beaks and sharp talons to hunt for their carnivorous diet.
🦴 Birds have hollow bones!
🐴 Bird beaks are made of keratin- the same material as human fingernails and horse hooves!
☀️ Similar to human baseball or football players, many birds naturally have black stripes under their eyes to minimize the suns reflection which helps them while hunting. These stripes are called maller stripes.
🦉 Owls can turn their heads up to 270* degrees in either direction allowing them to look almost directly behind themselves. This extreme 3/4 turn is enabled by 14 neck vertebrae (twice the amount of humans) and special blood vessels that prevents injury.

We did it!! We hit a new record! 🎉
During today’s parachute play, our residents kept 5 balls in the air at once—the most we’ve ever had! It took teamwork, quick hands, and plenty of laughs to keep them bouncing. The look of concentration on our faces says it all! Safe to say this group is raising the bar (and the parachute)! 🪂⚽

Our Resident Art Show was a true celebration of talent and heart! 🎨✨ From delicate ceramics and colorful stained glass to moving poetry and beautifully stitched quilts, the variety of creativity on display was inspiring.
What made it even more special was the pride you could see and feel as each resident stood beside their piece, sharing the stories and meaning behind their work. It was a celebration not just of art, but of passion and purpose; it was a moment to shine, to be celebrated, and to say, “This is something I’m proud of.” 💛

We started with plans for a lively game of Left, Right, Center… but sometimes a change of plans is the best plan of all 🍬💬
When residents decided they’d rather enjoy their candy and catch up with one another, we happily followed their lead. In our community, we prioritize resident interests — and today that meant sweet treats, good laughs, and even better conversation. And honestly? That’s a win every time!

Hard work pays off! 💰🎉
All month long, our residents earned points just for doing what they do best — staying active, social, and engaged! From games and crafts to fitness and outings, every activity added up.
Today was the big Activity Auction, where those hard-earned points turned into friendly bidding wars and exciting prizes! 🛍️✨ So many participants and so many prizes!
Laughter was loud, competition was fierce (in the best way), and everyone walked away a winner. Some of our favorite prizes included a weekly donut delivery, yummy candy, and lunch out with a friend. Can you tell we like food? 😉

Today we celebrate the heart of our community on National Caregivers Day. 💚🤍
Our caregivers show up each day with compassion, patience, and kindness that cannot be taught — only given from the heart. They offer comfort in quiet moments, encouragement during challenges, and dignity in every interaction. Because of them, our residents feel safe, valued, and truly at home.
To our incredible team: thank you for the gentle hands, the listening ears, the warm smiles, and the endless dedication you give so selflessly. You make a difference in ways big and small, and we are beyond grateful for each of you. 💕
