Join us this THURSDAY, October 15th for the first session in our three-part series about caring for those with dementia titled Beyond Behaviors: Identifying and Meeting Unmet Needs 🧠
Sheri Fairman, a nationally recognized dementia educator and advocate, will share the "ABC Approach- All Behavior is Communication". When demenita is in the picture, behaviors are great indicators of what a person might want or need. This presentation will help attendees better understand what may be behind those behaviors and how to respond with compassion.

Another successful shopping outing is in the books! 🛒
This time, we made stops at both Target and Pick ’n Save, which gives our residents a chance to pick out their own groceries and household items. From everyday essentials to a few things they wanted for themselves, it’s always nice to get out, shop at their own pace, and choose exactly what they need! 🛍️

October 4th - 10th is National Fire Prevention Week so naturally we spent some time making thank-you cards for a few local fire stations to show our appreciation for the fighter fighters who do so much for our community! 🔥 We’re always trying to spread a little kindness and gratitude.
Fun fact: In 1925, President Calvin Coolidge proclaimed Fire Prevention Week a national observance, making it the longest-running public health observance in our country!

A small crew for Breakfast with the Boys, but still plenty of smiles across the table! ☕️🥚
We started our day off on the right note with a classic breakfast of pancakes, eggs, and bacon. 🥓 These monthly meals are definitely something we look forward to!

Our Pink Social brought everyone together for an afternoon of all-pink treats, shared memories, and meaningful conversations about the people in our lives who have been impacted by breast cancer. 🎀
Some stories were personal, some were about loved ones, and all were a reminder of just how many lives breast cancer has touched.
We’ll be doing something each week throughout October to keep breast cancer awareness on our minds and continue remembering those who have been impacted. Stay tuned to see what we get into! 💗

A little fall decorating is officially underway! 🍂🎃 We got creative painting some festive door hangers to add a little seasonal spirit to our doors. We love seeing personalities come through in the little details that make Caretta feel like home. 🧡👻

💗 Breast Cancer Awareness Month 💗
Our front lobby is filled with a little reminder that touches so many lives. Each heart in our breast cancer ribbon represents someone who has been affected by breast cancer or carries a message of hope, strength, and encouragement. 🎀
With 1 in 8 women being diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime, chances are we all know someone whose life has been touched
by it.
Residents, families, staff, and visitors are all invited to add a heart to our ribbon. Write the name of someone you're honoring or a positive message you'd like to share.
A small heart can carry a lot of meaning.🤍

Caretta is opening its doors for some Halloween fun! Come trick-or-treat through our lobby, fill those candy bags, and show off your best costume to our residents. 🍬🍭

We celebrated TWO special work anniversaries this past week at Caretta! 🎉💚

Another happy hour in the books! 🎶💃 Our residents sure know how to have a good time! A huge thank you to Fernando for the wonderful entertainment and for keeping everyone singing, smiling, and dancing the afternoon away.
From the first song to the last dance, our residents bring so much energy and personality to every gathering. ❤️ In case you can’t tell, we LOVE music, dancing, and making memories together!

A round of applause for our September Employee of the Month, Lindsey! 👏🏼
You may recognize Lindsey from her time working on the floor, but now she’s making an impact in our Activity Department! 🤍
Since making the switch, Lindsey has been a great addition to the team. She’s always willing to jump in and help where needed, but what really stands out is the impact she has on residents. She brings a positive attitude, always makes time for them, and has a way of making everyone feel included.
We’re so lucky to have Lindsey on our team and look forward to her creating more memories with our Caretta Family!

🥨🍻 Prost to Oktoberfest! 🎉🇩🇪
Nothing says ‘Oktoberfest’ like the smell of fresh, homemade pretzels! 🥨 Our residents had a blast rolling, twisting, and baking their very own German pretzels from scratch to kick off the celebration!
We continued with dancing the afternoon away to polka music which brought back many memories for our residents. There’s just something special about polka music that takes you right back 🎶🤍
We enjoyed another Oktoberfest tradition by tasting a lineup of a few fall and Oktoberfest beers, along with some good old-fashioned root beer. Even those who aren’t German can still say ‘Prost to good food, friendship, and festivity’! 🍻

Today we made a special trip to the Shrine of Our Lady of Champion to celebrate the Feast of the Archangels. 🪽🙏🏼 We attended Mass, received Communion, lit candles, and spent some quiet time walking the beautiful grounds before heading to Culver’s for lunch.
At Caretta, we know caring for our residents means caring for the whole person—physical, mental, social, and spiritual. We’re grateful for opportunities like this that allow our residents to practice their faith and spend time in a place that holds meaning for them. ❤️

Our Senior Prom turned out to be quite the afternoon! 👑✨ We crowned our King and Queen, then spent the rest of the afternoon dancing to songs that brought back plenty of memories.
Some residents danced every song, some stayed in their seats and sang along, and everyone had their own way of enjoying the day. It was fun seeing everyone dressed up, hearing familiar songs, and watching the room come alive. 💃🕺

Weekends call for a little manicure time! 💅🏼
A fresh coat of polish, some time to sit and chat, and a few minutes of feeling extra put together. It’s amazing how something so simple can give that little boost of confidence and make residents feel good from the inside out. ❤️

🍎 Forget using teeth—our residents grabbed their grabbers and turned apple bobbing into a race! They went head-to-head to see who could catch the most apples. Some serious competition over a bucket of apples! 😂

Our monthly Lunch with the Ladies brought our biggest group yet to Red Lobster! 🦞❤️
Watching everyone catch up, choose their favorite meals, and simply enjoy being out together made for such a nice afternoon. Everyone back home was asking what took us so long… honestly, we were just having too good of a time together! A good meal and even better company will do that.
